What is the inherent power in the Word of God? Is it just another piece of literature? Or are they merely words from an orator? Knowing the inherent power in God's word will certainly help us see more of its efficacy in our lives.

The sum of all you are as a person is a sum total of the words you have heard and believed, but not every word you hear has serious impact on you. I have come to understand that we don’t weigh all words we hear to have equal value. Some mean more. Why is it so?
A word from my school teacher is received with a different attitude to a word from my mother. Then it is true that words carry the authority and personality of the giver.

THE WORD OF GOD
We must understand that a word from God is a word from a king. Therefore it’s a law. Unlike a president he does not require a house of parliament to pass it into law. For example, the bible makes us to understand in Gen 1:3 that God spoke light into existence and till date we have the sun and the moon. Since the word of God is law, it will also be right to have a line of thought that it takes the overthrowing of king to dis-annul his law or decree. So till God is overthrown, his Word remain law. But binding on whom?
A King rarely works with his hand, all he has to do is speak his desires. Please open your mind to get this truth. When studying the book of Genesis (the account of creation), I discovered something amazing. In verse 6 of Genesis 1, it says “And God said, let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters   from the waters. Then take note of the following verse 7 “And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Take note of the italicized word “said” and “made”. The bible says that a truth shall be established on two or three witnesses. So to drive home this inherent truth, I'd like us to consider some more scriptures.
"And God said, let there be light in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and seasons, and for days, and years.
And let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars  also."    Gen 1:14-16
The third scripture:
"And God said, let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beast of the earth after his kind, and it was so.
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good" Gen 1:24-25

This is my point, every time God 'said', we find in next verse, he 'made'. But if  according to the account every time God said, we are told it was so, why then does he have to “made” what was already so?
When God said, the king has spoken. But when he “made” his WORD is creating what he has said (He watcheth over his word to perform it).

THE INSEPERABLE NATURE OF GOD AND HIS WORD
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God John 1:1
The word of God carries in it the entire power of God. So you can rightly say the Word is God. In the book of Revelation we understand that Jesus is the word of God. That was his name before he lived as a man on earth. And when he was on earth as the Son of man, he testified that he is the express image of God. That is why when you see him (the word) you have seen the Father (God) because they are one and the same.
Now what does this understanding hold for us? When God made man, he made us in his image. When he was creating other things, they are helpless to his instructions. I mean to say that the sun has no belief system to appear or not appear. But man has been given a free will. So we have the responsibility to believe the word of God. The intensity to which you believe will equal the extent of the power that will be released. For instance, when the bible say in Job 22:29 “when men are cast down, then thou shalt say there is lifting up...”, just know that when you truly believe the word, understanding that it is the Word (Jesus) from God (The father and king), It will be made so. If you read Revelation 19:13-14 you would see that a great army accompanies the Word to make it manifest.
So make up your mind to believe because it is the Word of God and you will release the inherent power in the Word of God, to produce what it takes about in any area of your life. Has he not told us that “If you believe, you would see the glory of God?” Hallelujah!
